AI Video Ad Generator Tutorial: Website to Video Ad in 5 Minutes
This is the whole process in the Phantom Ad Maker, from a website link to a finished video ad with a digital presenter, a voice-over and music. It builds the actor, writes the story, records the voice-over and edits the ad together.
Three ways to start
How you feed it information is up to you:
- One website link. It reads the page and writes the copy and everything else from what it finds.
- A few instructions. You describe your business or your offer, upload a couple of images, and it works from that.
- Your own script. Paste a complete script and it says exactly that, then invents the rest of the visuals around it.
All three are in this tutorial.
Step 1: the instructions box
When you arrive on the page there's a text box at the top. That's where instructions go. Below it is the area for images, logos and even video clips.
Step 2: pick a style
Under that is the style changer. Open it and you get the talking person on camera, the whiteboard explainer, a vintage look, a news studio, cartoon, comic book, chalkboard, scrapbook and more.
The whiteboard explainer is worth knowing about. It's easy for people to follow and it's the simplest way to explain something complicated, which is why it's one of the most popular explainer formats on the internet.
The elegant style is a special one. It's good for real estate videos and for anything where you want several photos shown in a nice slideshow.
There's also an option where the AI picks the style it thinks fits your case best. I went with the hand-drawn style.
Step 3: presenter at the start
You can turn this off if you don't want a presenter opening the ad, but experiment with it before you do. It makes the ads look catchier, and the first few seconds are exactly where you need something that takes people's attention.
Step 4: more options
Behind the more options button: tall video or wide. Wide is for YouTube, tall is for the rest of the social networks. Voice-over off if you don't want one, music off if you don't want a track, and the switch that makes it use your exact script if you already wrote one.
Scroll down past all of that and you see every ad you've made so far.
Step 5: paste your website
I pasted my own site. It says it's reading the page, and that is literally what it does, so a site that can't be read can't be turned into an ad. I skipped the image upload, kept the presenter, kept it tall, kept the voice-over and the music, and clicked the green button.
It reads the whole website, plans the script, then generates the presenter. Three to five minutes, usually.
The finished ad

That's an ad for my own free video ad offer, written and voiced and edited by the thing it's advertising.
Making changes: my face, my logo, better music
Two things I wanted. I wanted to be the presenter, and there was a message saying it couldn't find a logo file, so I wanted my logo in there too.
The logo goes in through add photo or logo. For the presenter, click change the person on camera. If you want a different person you just describe them, a woman presenting this, for example. I wanted myself, so I uploaded my own photo.
At that point you get a choice worth understanding. Either let the AI work out how to put your face into the video and what background to build around you, or tell it to use the exact background your photo already has. I let it be creative and figure out how I'd look best in the scene.
Then I typed the instructions out anyway, because I like being explicit even when it understands:
Use my logo. Add my face that I am attaching. Use a more serious music track.
Clicked yes to a new presenter, waited about five minutes, and it came back with the same setup and background it had before, my logo on screen, me presenting, and a better music track than the first one.
Versions, and saving the script
Every change is kept. The original ad is there, the change is there, and the second version is there, so you can click back to any point. One of my older ads has seven versions in it.
There's also a panel that opens up the script. If the AI wrote something you like, save it, because you'll want it somewhere else eventually.
A second ad from a few lines of text
No website this time. Imagine all you have is the basic information someone sent you about a business. I pasted roughly this:
Sunnyside Bakery in Austin, Texas. Fresh sourdough bread baked every morning at 6 a.m. This week only, buy two loaves, get the third free. Cinnamon rolls $3 each. Open 7 days a week, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call the number or visit the website.
That's not an ad. It's a few facts about what a business offers, and most of us have scraps like that lying around.
I picked the news studio style, made it wide like a YouTube ad, turned the music off, and let it run:
Good morning, Austin. Sunnyside Bakery is making mornings brighter with fresh sourdough and a special offer. They bake fresh sourdough bread every single morning at 6 a.m. This week only, when you buy two loaves, you get the third one absolutely free. You can also grab their freshly baked cinnamon rolls for just $3 each. They are open 7 days a week until 2 p.m. Visit the website on screen today.
I was impressed by this one. I gave it no images at all, and it found pictures to use and animated them, with a hand placing the cinnamon rolls down. The text looks good, the script is good, and the intro is strong.
